Greetings and welcome to our unique spot on the web! We are a family with a passion for exploration, fresh experiences, and above all, each other. My own journey has led me from the baseball fields of South Jersey to the sun-drenched vistas of New Jersey. We can’t wait to share our narratives, wisdom, and lessons learned with you.
Who I AM
My name is Greg, the man behind this blog. I was born and raised in South Jersey where my love for outdoor activities started at a young age. I spent most of my childhood playing baseball until I was 18. In high school, I even started my own lawn business which I fondly called “Greg’s Yard Maintenance.” This venture introduced me to the world of entrepreneurship and ignited my passion for creating something out of nothing.
After high school, I attended Rutgers University where I studied Plant Science with an Option in Turn and minored in Business. With a degree in hand, I moved up north for my first job at Grass Roots – a company specializing in fertilizer and pesticides wholesale distribution. Being the youngest one there, I naturally became the unofficial IT guy. It was here that I discovered NetSuite and implemented it for the company.
My journey brought me to the doorstep of my dream job at NetSuite, where I’ve been thriving as a consultant for more than seven years. It was in this vibrant environment that I discovered a deep-seated love for travel. Suddenly, I found myself plunged into a whirlwind of regular flights crisscrossing the nation, sometimes on a weekly basis.
The highlight of this newfound wanderlust was my maiden voyage overseas to London. Upon my return, I was bitten by the travel bug and my work continued to feed this insatiable itch to explore. Some of the exotic and awe-inspiring locations that I had the privilege to visit for work included Manila, Singapore, France, New Zealand, and Switzerland, just to drop a few names. This has truly been an exhilarating ride!
Apart from professional life, my leisure time is often spent either at the gym or immersing myself in the splendor of nature. It was indeed at Life Time gym where I first encountered my stunning wife Katy, paving the way for our initial romantic getaway to Boston.
The Journey Began
Both Katy and I share an insatiable appetite for traveling, trying new foods, and embarking on adventures. Just three months into our relationship, we jetted off to Costa Rica. Our journey led us through the heart of the rainforest and along the pristine beaches, where we jet skied during the day and enjoyed amazing dinners under the stars at night.
Engagement
A couple of years down the line, we found ourselves setting off on a fortnight’s journey across Europe, commencing our adventure in Switzerland and wrapping it up in Italy. It was amidst the scenic beauty of Lugano where I popped the question to Katy. Having previously been charmed by Lugano’s allure a few years prior, I was confident that it was the ideal spot for such a momentous occasion.
The Big Day
On August 26, 2022, we tied the knot at Jockey Hollow in Morristown, which is kinda epic because that’s where we first bumped into each other, before heading up to Boston. Our wedding day was absolutely magical—full of love, laughs, and good vibes. Seriously, it felt like something out of a dream and it’s a day we’ll never forget in our life together.
Honeymoon
Following our wedding ceremony, we promptly embarked on a journey to Greece for our honeymoon, a destination that quickly captured our hearts. The azure skies and crystal-clear waters of Greece were simply mesmerizing. We spent our days exploring the ancient ruins, soaking up the sun on pristine beaches, and indulging in flavorful Greek cuisine. Each day was an adventure, filled with new experiences and memories that we would cherish forever. From the white-washed buildings of Santorini to the historic sites of Athens, every moment was a testament to the country’s rich cultural heritage and scenic beauty.
Baby Booklyn
Shortly after returning from Greece, we decided to shake things up and moved to Pennsylvania. This move was driven by our desire for change and to live closer to family. Little did we know that our family was about to grow. Shortly after moving, we found out Katy was pregnant.
Our little bundle of joy, Brooklyn, made her grand entrance into the world on July 13, 2023. Being a first-time parent, I had practically zero experience with newborns and babies. Suddenly, I was thrust into this new world headfirst – a world filled with diapers, baby bottles, and late-night lullabies.
With my heart full of love but my mind full of questions, I knew I had to quickly get up to speed on all things baby-related. So began my journey into the art and science of parenting – from understanding baby’s feeding schedule to decoding their different cries.
I immersed myself in books about parenting and babies. From classics like What to Expect When You’re Expecting to modern guides like The Happiest Baby on the Block, these resources became my go-to for understanding the nuances of baby care.
While reading books were helpful, it was the online community that truly helped me navigate this new terrain. Parenting blogs and forums became my saving grace during those early days. I poured over articles about:
It wasn’t long before this age-old saying rang true for me. No amount of reading could actually prepare me for the hands-on experience of caring for Brooklyn.
Every diaper change, every bottle feed, every gentle rocking to sleep – these moments taught me more than any book or blog ever could. With each passing day, I became more comfortable in my role as a dad and more attuned to Brooklyn’s needs.
Fast forward to today, I’ve come a long way from the clueless first-time dad who nervously held his newborn daughter. I’ve grown alongside Brooklyn, and while I won’t claim to be an expert (because let’s face it, with kids, there’s always something new to learn!), I am certainly more confident in my parenting abilities.
Now, I eagerly anticipate the continuing adventure of fatherhood – tackling each hurdle head-on and savoring every priceless moment with our little bundle of joy, Brooklyn.
Piglet
This very enthusiasm has led me to launch this blog, with the aspiration to become a trusted guide for first-time parents or any parent keen on learning from my triumphs and stumbles along the way.
And certainly, we can’t overlook our initial furry family member – Piglet, our delightful Pitbull. She holds a special place in our journey as she came into our lives from the very beginning. Piglet was Katy’s first dog and she accompanied Katy when we started our dating phase. Undoubtedly, she’s the best dog we could ever ask for.
Now here we are! Living with our beautiful daughter and lovable Pitbull. Our mission is to share our life experiences with others who might be in the same boat or those just looking for a relatable story or two.
